with international participation

"ETHNO-CULTURAL DIVERSITY OF UKRAINE:
NATIONAL UNITY AND EUROPEAN INTEGRATION PROGRESS"
August 22-24, 2024, Odesa

On August 22-24, 2024, under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, Odesa National Scientific Library in cooperation with the State Archival Service of Ukraine, Odesa Branch of the National Union of Local Lore of Ukraine and the Faculty of History and Philosophy of the Odesa I. I. Mechnikov National University will hold the All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference with international participation "Ethno-Cultural Diversity of Ukraine: National Unity and European Integration Progress".

The conference is a part of the of the cross-sectoral кproject "Ukraine: History, Culture, Identity" launched in 2021 on the occasion of Ukraine's Independence Day. The key objectives of the project, as defined by its founders, Odesa National Scientific Library, with the support of cultural, educational, scientific, and public institutions, are to strengthen the role of cultural institutions in preserving, studying, researching, and presenting Ukrainian history, culture, traditions, and achievements in various fields; to improve the process of intercultural communication, strengthen partnerships, and expand the cooperation network that will contribute to the development of Ukraine's cultural and educational space, and to popularize knowledge of the rich historical heritage with its world culture contribution.

The purpose of the conference is to bring together scholars, practitioners, and experts to address topical issues related to the role and place of information, cultural, scientific, educational institutions and NGOs in preserving, maintaining, developing the identity of national communities of peoples of Ukraine, in the processes of integration of Ukrainian society into the European community, as well as to create a space for dialogue, exchange of experience and identification of ways to overcome the challenges faced by national communities in Ukraine during the war and to promote cross- sectoral cooperation and partnership between Ukrainian civil socities and cultural, educational and scientific institutions.

Thematic areas of the conference:

  • Preservation of Historical Sites, Monuments, Documentary Heritage and Traditions in the Context of Military Conflicts: International Experience and Domestic Practice of Overcoming Challenges and Threats;
  • The formation of ethno-cultural space in Ukraine during the war and postwar reconstruction;
  • Institutions of culture, science, education and public organizations in the formation and implementation of tasks in the field of interethnic relations;
  • Figures, Events, Places: Local History and Historical and Biographical Studies;
  • Current practices in the preservation, research and promotion of multinational historical and cultural heritage: experience, new forms and approaches;
  • Intangible Cultural Heritage of National Communities of Ukraine: Protection, Study, and Promotion.

Scholars, educators, leading experts from libraries, archives, museums of Ukraine and abroad, local historians, representatives of creative industries, NGOs, state and local authorities are invited to participate in the conference.

The event will be held in a mixed format (online/offline).
 Working languages: Ukrainian, English.

Participation is by prior registration.
Applications are accepted until August 12, 2024.

Speakers will receive an electronic certificate after the event.

A collection of conference materials (electronic edition) is planned. Abstracts are accepted until August 20, 2024, with a note: conference "History. Culture. Identity" conference by e-mail: metodonnb@ukr.net

Requirements for the text of the report:

  • manuscripts in Ukrainian and English are accepted for publication;
  • text is typed in MS Word;
  • for abstracts in English, an abstract in Ukrainian (100-150 words) is required at the beginning of the text;
  • abstracts should be 2-4 pages in A4 format;
  • font - Times New Roman;
  • The number of pins is 14;
  • line spacing - 1.5;
  • paragraph - 1.25 cm;
  • margins: top, bottom, left and right - 20 mm;
  • alignment - by width;
  • pages are not numbered;
  • Figures, tables, or graphs should be presented in the paper immediately after the text where they are first mentioned or on the next page;
  • in the text, references to the sources used are indicated in square brackets: first, the number of the cited source in the list of references is indicated, then the page, for example: [1, с. 25]. The list of references should be prepared in accordance with DSTU 8302:2015 and should be given at the end of the text in alphabetical order in the original language;
  • at the beginning of the abstract page, indicate the UDC index (left-aligned, bold); then - the full name of the conference participant, academic degree and position, place of work (full name); city, country; title of the report (capital letters, bold, centered).
