The fields are cropped.

Near the lower edge of the image traces of the erased inscription.

The author and the title of the engraving are determined by means  of  comparison with a similar engraving by G. Ghisi that is kept in the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York).

The original is a painting of Giulio Romano for one of the tapestries created for the King of France Francis I, that shows the life of the Roman General Scipio (located in the Louvre).

Romano, Giulio ( real name Giulio Pippi, 1492, Rome – 1546, Mantua) – italian artist and architect, student of Raphael, was at the origins of the style of Mannerism.
