Personalities Gaillard René
1722 (according to other data 1719), Paris – 1790, Paris
Engraver and publisher of his own prints. Engraved mainly after the originals of F. Boucher, J.-B. Greuze, J.-B. Le Prince. According to researchers, he was one of the virtuosos of mastering a cutter and rarely resorted to an etching needle. This, however, did not prevent him from being one of the best interpreters of Boucher and achieving brilliant results in genre engraving, although he began by reproducing portraits, working, in particular, on "L'Europe Illustre" of Michel Odieuvre.
