Personalities Morin, Jean
Ca. 1605/1609, Paris – 1650, Paris
Painter and engraver, publisher of his own engravings. Student of the artist Philippe de Champaigne. He engraved in the technique of chisel engraving and etching from the originals of P. de Champaigne, A. van Dyck, and Titian. He worked mainly in the portrait genre. A characteristic feature of his portraits – they are all, with a few exceptions, placed in octagonal frames, elongated along the vertical. He also has a number of landscape etchings engraved from the originals of Cornelis van Poulenburg, Jacques Fouquier and his own drawings.
