Personalities Duchange, Gaspard
1662, Paris - 1757, Paris
Engraver and publisher of prints. At first, he was a student of the engraver Guillaume Vallet (ca. 1634-1704), then Gerard Audran, with whom he improved his work with a cutter and etching. He was influenced by Pierre Drevet the Elder (also a student of J. Audran). In 1707, he was admitted to the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture, presenting portraits of François Girardon and Charles de La Fosse (based on the originals of H. Rigaud), executed in the manner of Pierre Drevet. The catalog of prints of the National Library of France includes about 60 of his works.
