Engraver and artist of the Baroque period. At first he studied at his father’s, monumental artist Agostino Mittelli, later at the artists of the Bologna school - Francesco Albani, Flaminio Torri, Guercino and Simone Cantarini. He worked in Madrid (1658), Bologna (1659), and Venice (1660). He engraved from the originals of A. Carracci, P. Veronese, Correggio, Titian. His quaint etchings with genre scenes, allegories, caricatures and scenes from everyday life, political satire and board games brought him great popularity. He was one of the founders of the Clementina Academy in Bologna (now the Academy of Arts of Bologna) in 1711.
