Sheets from the series of 36 engravings that depict Italian landscapes, made by Willem van Nieulandt from the originals of Paul Bril. These engravings were created in 1602-1605, but were printed after 1635, when the publisher Bonenthal got the royal privilege.
Bril, Paul (1554-1626) - Flemish landscape painter and engraver.
Bonenfant, Antoine (also: Goetkint, Anton, ca 1598-1644) - publisher, printer and art dealer who worked in Paris in the first half of the XVII century. Descendant of the family of art dealers that lived in Antwerp. In 1621 he got the French citizenship and changed his name to Bonenfant. In 1631-1637 - co-owner of the firm for printing engravings in Paris, which had at its disposal the boards of engravings and etchings of the Flemish origin. The works of Bontenfant (with the inscription "Bonenfant exc.") were the imprints of high quality, for the dealing of which Bonenfant got the royal privilege in 1635.
