The author and the engraving title were established on the basis of a comparison with a similar engraving by F. Basan, kept in the Harvard Museum of Art (Cambridge, USA).

Boulogne, Valentin de (real name Jean Valentin) (1591, Coulommiers – 1632, Rome) – Baroque artist of French origin. He lived and worked in Rome. He painted religious paintings and household scenes. One of the best and most talented followers of Caravaggio.
