The author and title of the engraving were established on the basis of a comparison with similar engravings by C. F. Letellier, kept in the British Museum (London) and the Netherlands Institute for the History of Art (The Hague).
The original of P. P. Rubens is kept in the Gallery of Old Masters (as part of the State Art Collections), in Dresden.
One of four engravings depicting hunting scenes dedicated to the famous naturalist Count Georges-Louis Leclerc de Buffon (1707-1788).
