In the lower left corner of the image there is a handwritten inscription: Rubens pinx.; on the right: Lettelier sculpsit.
The author and title of the engraving were established on the basis of a comparison with similar engravings of C. F. Letellier, kept in the British Museum (London) and the Netherlands Institute for the History of Art (The Hague).
The original of P. P. Rubens is kept in the Old Pinakothek (Munich).
One of four engravings depicting hunting scenes dedicated to the famous naturalist Count Georges-Louis Leclerc de Buffon (1707-1788).
