Engraver. Son and student of engraver Nicolas-Henri Tardieu. Like his father, he was a member of the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture (since 1749) and the king's engraver. He worked after the originals of other artists. Portraits brought him the greatest fame. The portrait of Queen Maria Leszczyńskais one of his best works. He was married twice, both of his wives were engravers. His son, Jean-Charles Tardieu, was a famous painter.
