Personalities Picault, Pierre
1680, Blois – 1711, Paris
Engraver. Student of Gerard Audran, from whose prints he made copies of the battles of Alexander the Great based on Charles Le Brun's originals.
The engravings were made by Gerard Audran on the order of Louis XIV in 1672-1678. Engraved copies of P. Picault were published by the widow of the engraver François Chéreau, Marguerite Chéreau (?–1755). In 1718, François Chéreau bought the engraving publishing house (boards, machines, shop) of Gerard Audran from the latter's widow. After her husband's death, Chéreau's widow continued to run the business from 1729 to 1755.
