Engraver, etcher. From a large family of French engravers. The eldest daughter of Daniel Hortemels, a French bookseller, originally from Holland. Wife (1712) of the famous French engraver Nicolas-Henri Tardieu. One of their sons, Jacques-Nicolas Tardieu, was also an engraver. Both her sisters, Louise-Madeleine and Marie-Nicole, and her brother Frédéric were also engravers. Marie-Anne and her sister Marie-Nicole signed their works with their maiden name. She worked mainly in the portrait genre.
