Personalities Loir, Alexis I

Engraver, jeweler. Son of the jeweler Nicolas I Loir (who received a patent in 1616) and brother of Nicolas Pierre Loir (1624-1679). He was a royal jeweler at the Tapestry Manufactory, where in 1666-1676 he worked on the manufacture of silver furniture and a balustrade for Louis XIV based on drawings by Charles Le Brun, the then director of the Manufactory. Member of the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture (1678).
