Engraver, publisher and print trader. Member of Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture (1723). Engraved religious and mythological subjects, but is especially famous for his small engraved portraits (in-8o), of which 332 were included in the suite under the title: "Recueil des Portraits belles lettres & les arts, comme aussi la famille Royale de France & autres Cours étrangeres" (Collection of portraits of persons distinguished both in arms and in fine writing and arts, as well as the royal family of France and other foreign courts) (1726). Many portraits are accompanied by poetic verses. Author of book illustrations. He was awarded gold medals by the King and Prince of Hesse-Darmstadt (1723).
More than 600 works are attributed to him, engraved both by himself and by the students of his workshop, who did not put their signatures on the plates.-
