Personalities Hoy, Nikolaas van
Hoy, Nikolaas van (1631, Antwerp – 1679, Vienna) – flemish painter, engraver. He studied in Antwerp. In 1646 he was in Rome with Jan van Ossenbeeck. From 1647 to 1655 he worked in Brussels. In 1657 he went to Vienna. Around 1667 he became a court painter of Leopold I, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, and Archduke Leopold Wilhelm of Austria. He remained in this position until his death.
