The portrait was painted by H. Rigaud on the order of the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture on the occasion of the election of the Duke d'Anten in 1708 as the patron of the academy.

The original is in the Palace of Versailles (Museum of French History).

Director of the King's Residences (1708–1736). Head of the Council on Internal Affairs during the regency era under the juvenille King Louis XV. Since 1724 – Knight of the Order of the Holy Spirit.
