The title of the engraving was established on the basis of a comparison with similar engravings by F. R. Ingouf, that is kept in the British Museum (London) and Geneva Museum of Art and History (Switzerland).
The original is kept in the Fabre Museum in Montpellier (France).

Meulen, Adam Frans van der (1632, Brussels – 1690, Paris) – Flemish battle painter who worked most of his life in France; an outstanding representative of the style of Louis XIV. He wrote hunting, camps, sieges, battles and, with special excellence, horses.
Wieilh B. A. (? – ?) – French reproduction engraver. His name does not appear in any directory. Six works of this author are known, one of them is dated 1770 (British Museum).
