"Southern Russian Collection" – Ukrainian literary almanac, composed and published in Kharkiv in 1848 by Amvrosіі Lukianovych Metlynsky (1814-1870), ethnographer, folklorist, who was an associate professor at Kharkiv University at that time. The almanac consists of five sections. Each book has its own page numeration.
"Southern Russian Collection" contains a preface with a definition of publication purpose written by A. Metlynsky, a reference with an explanation of spelling of the Ukrainian language used in the almanac and a short references of authors at the beginning of each section. There are separate title pages to the works of S. V. Aleksandrov, M. M. Makarovsky and H. F. Kvitka-Osnovianenko.
A copy of Odesa National Scientific Library was previously kept in the private collection of M. F. Komarov (1844-1913), a well-known Ukrainian bibliographer, ethnographer, public figure, as evidenced by the owner's stamp on the cover and on the title page.
