Volodymyr Khristianovych Zaue

Котляр М.С. Володимир Хрістіанович Заузе. – [Харків] : Держ. вид-во «Мистецтво», 1941. – 96 с. : іл. – Наклад 2000 прим.

The book is the first detailed study of the work of the renowned Ukrainian graphic artist, watercolorist, etching master, professor, and head of the etching and graphic arts workshop at the Odesa Art Institute, Volodymyr Zaue (1859–1939), whose life was connected with Odesa for over 50 years. An important addition to the text is the “Chronological list of the main works of V.H. Zaue,” which begins in 1893. The author of the book, Mark Solomonovych Kotlyar (1896–1943), was an artist, art historian, and, in the 1930s, an employee of the Odesa Art Museum. He wrote a series of articles devoted to the artistic and museum life of Odessa, as well as its outstanding artists, such as Y.R. Bershadsky, S.Ya. Kishinevsky, D.K. Krainov, and L.O. Muchnik.
