Shevchenko in literature and art: bibliographic index of materials

Shevchenko in literature and art: bibliographic index of materials for studying the life and works of T. Shevchenko / compiled by M. Komarov. – Odessa : printed by E. I. Fesenko, 1903. – 140, [4] pp.

This bibliographic publication, compiled by the renowned Ukrainian cultural figure, bibliographer, ethnographer, and literary scholar Mykhailo Komarov (1844–1913), is devoted to a comprehensive study of Taras Shevchenko's legacy. It represents one of the earliest systematic attempts to collect materials related to Shevchenko’s work in literature and art, as well as writings about him, thereby contributing to the study of his life and creative output and to the perpetuation of  his memory. The index encompasses a wide range of publications from the second half of the 19th century to the early 20th century, reflecting Shevchenko's influence across diverse fields of culture. Distinguished by the careful selection of material, the work includes an alphabetical index of authors and an article outlining the key dates in Shevchenko’s life. This makes it a valuable resource for literary scholars, art historians, cultural historians, and bibliographers, as well as an important testimony to the development of Shevchenko studies in the early 20th century. The publication was printed at the renowned Y. Fesenko printing house in Odesa, which played a significant role in promoting the Ukrainian language in southern Ukraine.
