The collection includes lyrics to 101 Ukrainian folk songs with music, which makes it a valuable source for researchers of folk art, as well as for singers, amateur groups, and musicians.
The publication was published in Odesa printing house and chromolithography of Yurii Fesenko, a well-known Odesa publisher who actively promoted the distribution of Ukrainian books in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
Due to the high demand, “Collection of Ukrainian songs” was reprinted several times in 1897, 1903, 1908, and 1911, which proves its popularity and significance in the cultural space of that time. The publication is a significant contribution to the preservation and popularisation of the Ukrainian song heritage.
