After the revolution of 1905–1907 and the partial democratisation, several Polish societies and organisations emerged. In Odesa, the Ognisko club, the Lyra musical society, and the Polish House were organised. The Polish organisations in the city had libraries (in particular, the library of the Polish House had up to 15,000 copies of books). Polish societies also published periodicals that covered the life of the city's Polish community. The ‘Calendar of the Polish House in Odesa’ was an annual publication that contained not only a calendar but also materials about cultural events, articles, and other information reflecting the life of the Polish community of that time. It was also a directory where one could find the addresses of Polish doctors, notaries, and other professionals. The publication provides a glimpse into the life of the Polish community in Odesa and is a valuable source for researchers.
