The travel guides, compiled by the famous Odesa cartographer Kazymyr Vikentiyovych Vyskovskyi, were published from 1875 to 1915 and went through about twenty editions. They are a valuable historical and local history source that reflects the socio-economic and spatial development of Odesa in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
The publications contain detailed plans of the city and its surroundings, which makes it possible to trace the transformation of the urban landscape and infrastructure. In addition to topographical data, the guides include the names of real estate owners, police numbering of houses, boundaries of peace and police stations, insurance numbering of quarters, insurance categories, and special designations of corner and through properties.
