Ivan Mytrofanovych Lutsenko (1863-1919) was a physician, public, political, and military figure. In his work “Psychic Energy and the Problem of Mind Reading,” he explores the phenomenon of telepathy through the prism of psychic energy. Analyzing the possibility of mind reading, Lutsenko formulates philosophical and ethical generalizations, emphasizing the importance of purity of thought for the moral development of society. He substantiates the thesis of the materialization of thoughts and puts forward a moral imperative for the responsibility of the individual for his or her inner world in the context of social activity.
The publication is based on a series of lectures delivered by the author as part of the activities of the Odesa Prosvita and is the fourth edition of the first Ukrainian publishing house in Odesa, the Odesa Literary Union (1902-1912), founded by I. Lypa, M. Voronoi, I. Lutsenko, and S. Shelukhyn.
