In 1920 Serhiy Yefremov (1876-1939), literary critic, literary historian, publicist, and one of the founders of Ukrainian journalism, proposed his own (albeit somewhat simplified) version of the Ukrainian studies manual. This publication is intended for a wide audience wishing to expand their knowledge of Ukrainian studies through self-study. In compiling this index, Serhiy Olexandrovych selected very competent and methodologically sound teaching materials with a certain amount of knowledge about Ukraine and Ukrainians, which are still very necessary and relevant today, both in their content and form, and in the technology of its compilation.
