A separate edition of the dramatic social and domestic poem by the prominent Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko (1814-1860), "Kateryna", which shows the tragic fate of a woman-cover and a fatherless child in a serfdom The poem was published by the publishing house "Vik" in the series "Peasant Library" (69 issues since 1894). The publications of this series were aimed at disseminating knowledge in various fields of science among the people, and introduced the best works of Ukrainian literature to the general public in an accessible form. The cover of the publication features a portrait of Taras Shevchenko.
