Kolessa A. M. Shevchenko and Mickiewicz [Electronic copy] : [a study of the influence of Mickiewicz's poetry on the work of Taras Shevchenko] / A. Kolesa. - Odesa: Tip. "Odesa. News", 1901. - 8 p. - Author indicated in the preface - Reprinted from the newspaper: Odessanski Novyny. - 1901. - 26 February (№ 5224).

Taras Shevchenko is considered a prophet of the Ukrainian people, and Adam Mickiewicz - of the Polish people. In difficult moments of life, it is important to seek advice from national prophets, the most prominent representatives of one's people. Usually, the first thing one looks for is the attitude of these people to the problems that need to be solved by modern society, and one tries to get to know their personalities, spiritual world and beliefs on the most important issues of life as much as possible.

Both poets-prophets suffered from a common enemy - the Moscow authorities. Taras Shevchenko was in exile, while Adam Mickiewicz was in exile, travelling to other countries. By presenting excerpts from the works of both poets, the author demonstrates their attitudes towards "Moscow", "Muscovites", and the phenomena of life that interested them and to which they reacted in their own way.
