A collection of fables by the most outstanding representative of Ukrainian philosophical thought, poet, teacher and educator H.S. Skovorody was published in New York in 1972 on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the author's birthday (first printed in 1837 in the publication of the Moscow Trustee Committee of the Philanthropic Society under the title "Fables of Kharkiv G.V Skovorody").
The fable texts are presented in full translation into the modern literary Ukrainian language, the moralistic comments are in some cases abbreviated by the translator. The collection includes 30 fables.
The book contains a letter (1774) of Hryhoriy Savovych Skovoroda to his friend Panas Kindratovych Pankov.
