The first Ukrainian women's almanac "The First Wreath" was published in 1887 at the expense and initiative of writers and social activists Natalia Kobrynska and Olena Pchilka.
49 original prose, poetic and journalistic works of seventeen women writers were printed on the pages of the almanac. "The First Wreath" also included interesting ethnographic research and a number of articles with a feminist content, in particular about the position of women in Ukraine and the world. The first women's almanac, both in terms of authorship and readership, had a significant impact on the development of the women's movement in Ukraine.
The copy of the Odesa National Scientific Library is part of the book collection of M. F. Komarov (1844-1913), a famous Ukrainian bibliographer, lexicographer, ethnographer, literary critic, public and cultural figure.
