The book is based on the collection of ancient monuments of Greece and Rome of the British Museum, with a foreword by the curator of this department of the museum. The author tells the story of Greek terracotta, mostly from Tanagra. Genre statuettes, including women's and men's, are considered separately. The publication is illustrated with photographs of monuments from the collection of the British Museum.
The book was donated to the library by its longtime trustee, Count Mikhail Tolstoy. The copy is protected by a solid leather frame, all pages and illustrations are available, without defects.
