Personalities Heyden, Jacob van der

Flemish engraver, publisher, painter and sculptor. Son of the painter Jan van der Heyden, who moved from Mechelen (Belgium) to Strasbourg. He studied in Brussels with Raphael Coxie. In 1616 in Leipzig he created a series of engravings for Gustav Selenius's book "Chess, or the Royal Game" ("Das Schach, oder König-Spiel"). Around 1636 he moved to Brussels, where he worked until his death.
