The historical essay "Tatars and Lithuania in Ukraine" is chronologically and thematically a continuation of the book "First Princes of Kyiv". The story begins with the first attack of the Tatars on Southern Rus, then it refers to the reign of Danylo Romanovych, prince of Galicia, with a detailed description of the feuds under his rule. It is also about Lithuanian princes, about the conquest of Southwestern Rus. The essay ends in 1452, with the death of Svydrygailo, who ended his life as a specific ruler with the title of Great prince.
The work of I.S. Nechui-Levytsky from Odessa National Scientific Library collection is bound to the book "First Princes of Kyiv" of the proprietary convolute from the collection of M.F. Komarov (1844-1913), a famous Ukrainian bibliographer, ethnographer, public figure, as evidenced by the presence of the initials «M. K.» and the general name of the convolution: «Levytsky. History of Ukraine» on the cover. There is also an owner’s stamp on the cover and title page.
