The monograph is devoted to the work of Ivan Karpenko-Kary (Ivan KarpovychTobilevych, 1845-1907), a classic of Ukrainian drama, actor, director, and one of the founders of the new Ukrainian theatre, the so-called ‘theatre of coryphaei’. The author of the book, Stepan Chornyi (1918-1980), was a philologist, theatre critic, professor at New York University and the Ukrainian Free University (in Munich). The copy of Odesa National Scientific Library is in the publisher's paperback. The book is in satisfactory condition; all pages are present, without defects.
