The ‘Memoirs of the Kherson Province’ is an official reference and information collection published by the Kherson Provincial Government in the period from 1864 to 1914. During that time, 8 issues were published, each of which is a unique historical document that allows us to reconstruct the administrative, social, economic, and cultural development of the Kherson province in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
The book is divided into several sections. The calendar section reflects the multinational and multi-confessional nature of the region. The address section contains a list of officials of the provincial, district, and state authorities, judiciary, and civil institutions, compiled under the administrative and territorial structure of the province. The statistical component of the collection provides data on demographics, land ownership, industry, medicine, education, agriculture, and the transportation system of the region. The advertising department reflects the economic life of the region through announcements about the activities of factories, banks, shops, educational institutions, and hotels.
