The collection is devoted to the people’s movements in Ukraine in the 18th century. In his introduction Mykhailo Hrushevsky points out to the lack of works in historical literature dedicated to study of manifestations of popular protest, and to the fact that this publication contains special explorings that cover different periods of people’s movements of the 18th century.
The publication includes the works of V. Antonovych, O. Yefimenko and Y. Tselevych, dedicated to the Ukrainian national uprisings of the 18th century. People's movements such as Haidamak movement, Turbaev uprising and opryshkivstvo are described.
A copy of Odesa National Scientific Library was previously stored in the private collection of Mykhailo Komarov (1844-1913), a famous Ukrainian bibliographer, ethnographer, public figure, as evidenced by the owner’s stamp on cover and the title page.
