Hrinchenko M.M. For the Native Land: the Story of a Girl from Orlean Jeanne d'Arc / written by M. Zahirnia [pseud.]. - Kyiv: Print. of the 1st Kyiv printing house. Unions, 1908. - 48 p. : pic. - (Society “Prosvita” in Kyiv; No. 22).

Mariia Zahirnia (real name Mariia Hrinchenko) (1863-1928), writer, poet, translator, author of popular science works. She created entire Ukrainian-language series of popular works on history, geography, political economy, medicine. It was in this series that the story "For the Native Land" appeared, in which the writer describes the fate of an Orlean maiden in six parts. The story clearly traces the motive that literally penetrates the text - motive of love for a native land and understanding of one’s own calling - to free it from invaders.
A copy of Odesa National Scientific Library was previously stored in the private collection of Mykhaylo Komarov (1844-1913), a famous Ukrainian bibliographer, ethnographer, public figure, as evidenced by the owner’s stamp on cover and the title page.
