In the summer of 1938, a major exhibition was opened to mark the 50th anniversary of the artistic career of the Odesa artist Solomon Yakovych Kyshynivsky (1862 or 1864 – winter 1941/1942). A catalog was published for the exhibition, featuring a chronological list of the artist’s works, black-and-white illustrations of five of his famous pieces, and an introductory article by art historian and a museum employee Mark Solomonovych Kotlyar (1896–1943).
