The author of the book is Kostyantyn Vitaliyovych Sherotskyi (1886–1919) - art critic, ethnographer, folklorist, local historian. He was the author of popular sketches about the art of Galicia, Bukovyna, Prykarpattia and other places.
The publication is one of the first on this topic. The publication contains descriptions and illustrations of the interior decoration of buildings (sculpture, carvings, inlays, paintings, wallpapers and decorative fabrics) from ancient times to the beginning of the 20th century.
