The presented collection “Kobzar” was published during the lifetime of the author in 1860 in St. Petersburg in the typography of the Imperial Academy of Sciences. This collection of poetry of Taras Shevchenko in Russian translation was made by such poets as Nicholas Gerbel (collection was edited and published by him), Alex Plescheev, Nicholas Berg, Lev Mei and others. The presented edition starts with Shevchenko’s autobiography that he wrote as a letter to one of the editors of the magazine "Folk readings". The publication also includes a list of published works of Taras Shevchenko and the list of Russian translations of his poems.
